Davinder Singh

Davinder Singh Kang is an Indian javelin thrower born on December 18, 1988. He competes in the javelin throw and achieved historic success at the 2017 World Championships.

Kang won the bronze medal at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships with a throw of 83.29 metres. At the 2017 World Championships in London, he became the first Indian to qualify for the final of the javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships with a throw of 84.22 metres, the seventh best mark in qualification.

As the first Indian to reach a World Championships javelin final, Kang pioneered Indian success in the event that would later see Neeraj Chopra become Olympic champion. His historic achievement opened the door for India's emergence as a force in javelin throwing.
