Andrew Hunter
Andrew James Hunter is an American middle-distance runner born on September 5, 1997, in Loudoun County, Virginia. He competes professionally for Asics and established himself as a prodigy by setting the national indoor mile record for high school boys in 2016.
Hunter was named Gatorade National Cross-Country Runner of the Year in 2016. Rather than attending the University of Oregon, he chose to pursue a professional career immediately, signing a 10-year contract with Adidas on July 8, 2016, making him one of the youngest American distance runners to turn professional.
As a former high school national record holder who turned professional at 18, Hunter represents the new generation of American middle-distance talent. His early professional commitment and continued development position him as an important figure in US distance running.
