
Nick Symmonds
Nick Symmonds is an American retired middle-distance runner born on December 30, 1983, in Boise, Idaho. Standing 178 cm and weighing 75 kg, he specialized in the 800 and 1500 metres and is a six-time U.S. national champion at 800 metres.
Symmonds competed in the 800m at two Olympic Games, reaching the semi-finals in Beijing 2008 and finishing fifth in the London 2012 final with a personal best of 1:42.95. He won silver at the 2013 World Championships. At Willamette University, he won seven NCAA Division III titles outdoors.
Following his running career, Symmonds co-founded Run Gum in 2014 and became a popular YouTube personality focusing on running and fitness. In May 2025, he summited Mount Everest, becoming the first person to both summit Everest and run a sub-four-minute mile, having run 3:56.72 in 2007.
