Mickey Grimes
Mickey Grimes is a former American sprinter born on October 10, 1976. He specialized in the 100 and 200 metres and became the 42nd person in history to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 metres.
Grimes began his career as a hurdler, winning the CIF California State Meet 300 hurdles championship in 1995 for Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, defeating future Olympic champion Felix Sanchez. He won the 100 metres at the 2003 Pan American Games but was later stripped of the title after testing positive for ephedrine.
At the Weltklasse Zurich on August 15, 2003, Grimes ran under 10 seconds in the 100 metres, finishing just behind Justin Gatlin, who would later become an Olympic champion. Despite the positive test that cost him his Pan American Games medal, his sub-10-second performance places him among the fastest American sprinters.
