Jacob Kiplimo
Jacob Kiplimo is a Ugandan long-distance runner, born on November 14, 2000, in the Kween District. He is a four-time World Cross Country champion, winning the junior race in 2017 and senior titles in 2023, 2024, and 2026. At age 15, he represented Uganda at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the youngest Olympian in the country's history.
Kiplimo won bronze medals in the 10,000 metres at both the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 World Athletics Championships. He claimed gold in both the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and won the 2020 World Half Marathon title. His personal bests of 12:40.96 in the 5000 metres and 26:33.84 in the 10,000 metres rank among the top ten all-time in both events. He also holds the Ugandan record for the 3000 metres.
At the 2025 Barcelona Half Marathon, Kiplimo ran 56:42, the fastest half marathon ever recorded, breaking the world record by 48 seconds. However, the time was not ratified by World Athletics due to pacing assistance from a lead car that was deemed illegal.
